I was the one who got Craig his job with the band.
I think he is from Akron, Ohio.? We first met at a gig in Ohio at a college in '73. Craig asked me if there was a position open on our road crew.? He struck me as one who had "Dean Kilpatrick" capabilities...dedication like no other.
Three months later while playing a New Years Eve show in Atlanta, Reed popped up behind my amp on stage! Later on I asked Ronnie to give him a job.
Ronnie wouldn't hear of it...said a 'yankee' didn't have a right to be on the road crew. I told Ronnie that if Craig messed up, I'd take the blame. So Craig got hired, with Ronnie adding that if Reed screwed up, I might lose MY job.
One of the most dedicated crew members the band ever had. Yeah, he was on the plane. I think he might be taking a rest from touring this year. One of my favorite people.
In WHAT'S YOUR NAME when Ronnie sings "One of the crew had a go with one of the guests" - that was Craig.

Comment from Craig Reed - "Ronnie was not happy about taking on a Yankee and told Ed I better not F up or it would be his ass. Ronnie and I never had an incident ever, we became very close. Ronnie trusted my loyalty and knew if he asked me a question he would hear the truth.
This is all true. Ronnie was REAL CLEAR about it, too!! Said if Craig messed up, I was OUT. Craig soon became invaluable.
