Allen & Gary always dressed up for a show...I mean, they wore nicer clothes than me & Ronnie wore. Mostly, we wore t-shirts & jeans. Ronnie would throw his away after a couple of days and send Dean Kilpatrick out to get more. That was Ronnie's image...the street guy...forget about the shoes. I have to say, Ronnie didn't care one bit for fancy clothes. Now that I think about it, I can't recall ever seeing him in a shirt with a COLLAR!
As for me, I should've definitely gone for some wardrobe-consulting. Good grief, I can barely stand to look at those old photos.
I always thought...WHY have special clothes for those times when you do music? I always thought it was way more natural just to wear up there what you'd wear anywhere else.
IMAGE CONSCIOUS??? Duh...what's that mean? Geez, I was one stupid kid.

Q- Ed, did you ever wear this number on stage? Is that from Victor's Secret? (notice I didn't say Victoria)That ain't exactly 'stage garb' ! But the pose is straight off the Skynyrd 1988 Tribute Tour poster. (Take a look at Johnny.)

I carried my 'wardrobe' in an old camera travel box...I still have it...it's covered with backstage passes from the 70s. Just t-shirts and some jeans...everything else was bought as needed then discarded. Who has time for laundry? I can never remember Ronnie even having a suitcase or carrying a wallet. He liked to travel LIGHT. We always sent Dean Kilpatrick out to K-Mart for whatever was needed.
The "Tour Chest" Today That 'tour chest' used to be a camera case that a photographer in Atlanta gave me. I used it to carry my clothes...in those days, t-shirts & jeans. Over time I slapped a backstage pass from every show we did. Look closely and you'll see Eric Clapton (when we blew him off the stage in Memphis), The Who Quadrophenia Tour, REO Speedwagon, ZZ Top, Wishbone Ash, etc. I got the "all calls 25 cents" off a Holiday Inn phone. And the bumper sticker says "Day Sleeper", though nobody ever let me!
